What's New along Hamilton Road
Planter Baskets
Hanging planter baskets have recently been installed along Hamilton Road, enhancing the visitor experience and beautifying the urban landscape. This initiative reflects a growing trend toward integrating greenery into urban deserts, offering numerous benefits.
Building Community
Tanya Lovell of East Side Bar and Grill hosted a carwash during the BIA's Carnevale Event. The money raised from that initiative was contributed to the BIA's installation of a bike rack at Pinto's Convenience Store, making our neighbourhoods more cyclist friendly. Bravo Tanya, and everyone over at East Side Bar and Grill!
Hammie Reborn
In the vibrant heart of Hamilton Road, a beloved porcine sentinel has returned to its rightful place, bringing joy and artful whimsy back to the neighborhood. Meet Hammie, the larger-than-life tree trunk sculpture of a soccer-playing pig, who has been delighting residents and visitors alike for years. Positioned proudly in front of "The King of the Pigs" Portuguese restaurant, Hammie is not just a sculpture; he's a local legend and a key player in the Hamilton Road Historical Tree Trunk Tour.
Hammie has braved the Canadian seasons, enduring snow, rain, and sunshine with the stoicism only a wooden pig could muster. Over time, however, even the sturdiest of sculptures can show signs of wear. Enter the talented folks at "Robbin's Amazing Art," who took on the Herculean task of restoring Hammie to his former glory. The restoration was no small feat, but thanks to their skill and dedication, Hammie was re-installed on August 3rd, much to the delight of his fans.
The unveiling on August 7th was attended by a group of enthusiastic supporters who gathered to welcome Hammie back, celebrating the successful restoration with cheers and applause. The event was a testament to the community's support for public arts and culture, proving that Hammie is more than just a piece of wood—he's a symbol of neighborhood pride and creativity.
So, next time you're strolling down Hamilton Road, stop by and say hello to Hammie. Snap a photo, give him a pat, and remember the power of art to bring people together. Welcome back, Hammie! Your fans have missed you, and we're thrilled to see you standing tall once more.
Trip to Robbin's Amazing Art
Chainsaw artist Robbin Wenzoski and his wife Laurie warmly welcomed Carolyn, Lindsey, and Rick to his captivating farm, where his extraordinary tree sculptures come to life!
During their visit, the trio was treated to a sneak peek of the newly restored Hamilton Road Historical "Tree Trunk Tour" sign, which will soon find its permanent home—location details are coming soon, so stay tuned!
Robbin has created a delightful array of sculptures along Hamilton Road, including the lively Stihl Band Tree-O, Hammie, the whimsical Paul Bear'r, the elusive EOA Sasquatch, and the charming Trafalgar Public School Deer Family. Their adventure included an exciting exploration of both his farm and carving workshop!
The BIA's collaboration with London Coffee House to improve street cleanliness, increased their cleaning patrols to twice per week this summer. They've expanded their reach from the Hamilton and Rectory area to include Adelaide and Hamilton Road, collecting an average of 550 pounds of garbage and 30 harm reduction items weekly from May through August.
We sincerely thank London Coffee House for their commitment to contributing to a safe and clean community.

As sad as we were to say goodbye to Vanessa and Lydia, luckily we onboarded Lindsey permanently as our new Program Administration Coordinator.
